Operation Spark, a non-profit tech bootcamp dedicated to changing lives by advancing tech skills for today’s workplace, will offer a free two-week “Introduction to Coding” course. These courses are offered monthly, with the next starting October 12.
The class will meet virtually every day, Monday through Thursday, for two consecutive weeks. “Operation Spark is here for those who have lost their jobs due to COVID-19 and need guidance for a viable and successful career. There is no cost to the prep program so everyone can assess whether a career in software is right for them, ”said John Fraboni, Founder and CEO of Operation Spark.
“Coding jobs are about everything from data and software engineers to web and video game developers. These jobs can generate significant income for life and are available in all industries around the world. It does not require a college degree and starting salaries average around $ 60,000.
“Prep is the first phase of Operation Spark’s six-month intensive learning program for a high-demand tech job. This gives students the opportunity to try their hand at coding without a full-time or financial commitment, ”said Fraboni.
Students who successfully complete the Preparation program may choose to continue into Operation Spark’s Bootcamp and Immersion programs, where they earn advanced industry-based certifications that lead to a well-paying career in software development. For Immersion graduates, Operation Spark is committed to achieving a 100 percent placement record and is fully engaged throughout the hiring process.
The minimum technical requirements to participate in the preparation program are a laptop, desktop or Chromebook and a stable internet connection. Operation Spark’s experienced full-time instructors have been teaching coding classes for adults and students across Louisiana since 2014.
Financial aid and tuition assistance are available for students who continue beyond the preparatory class. For more information on Operation Spark, visit operationspark.org.
